Turn Slack into your team's command center โ ask, act, and automate without leaving the conversation.
Slack is a workplace messaging and collaboration platform for teams and organizations. It provides channels, messaging, automation, search, canvases, and app integrations for working inside Slack workspaces and Enterprise organizations.

Docs โOAuth 2.0
OAuth 2.0 โ pre-registered app required
This server does not support automatic client registration (no DCR or CIMD), so the MCP client cannot register itself. Create an OAuth app in the provider's developer settings, allow-list your MCP client's OAuth callback URL as a redirect URL, and give the client that app's client ID and secret. Then connect and approve access in the browser.
The Slack app must also have Slack MCP server access enabled (settings.is_mcp_enabled: true in the app manifest) โ Slack rejects tokens from apps without it, and clients typically surface that as a generic connection failure.
Fastest path: create a pre-configured Slack app โ the manifest pre-fills the MCP flag and all search:read.*, history, and write scopes; you add your client's callback URL under OAuth & Permissions after creation, then copy the client ID and secret from Basic Information.
Slack MCP server OAuth authorization
Use an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor and connect it to https://mcp.slack.com/mcp (or https://slack.com/mcp where supported). Slack's MCP docs say the client will prompt you to authenticate to your Slack workspace via OAuth during connection; workspace admins may need to approve the MCP integration first. See Connect to Claude, Connect to Cursor, and the Slack MCP Server overview.

Docs โSlack workspace access token for an installed app (bot/user/app-level/configuration token)
Create a Slack app in Your apps, add the scopes you need, then install it with Slack OAuth as described in Installing with OAuth. The install flow issues tokens such as bot tokens (xoxb-) and user tokens for the workspace, documented in Tokens.
Slack CLI authorization token
Install the Slack CLI, then run slack login and complete the in-Slack approval flow described in Authorizing the Slack CLI. For CI/CD, you can mint a long-lived service token with the Slack CLI and then authorize with slack login --auth <your-service-token>.
Common questions.
Does Giga need admin to install?+
A workspace admin approves the Slack app once. After that any member can use @Giga where it's invited.
Can Giga see all my channels?+
No โ Giga only sees channels it's explicitly invited to, and honours Slack's permission model.
