OAuth 2.0 — self-onboarding
Point your MCP client at the server URL and approve access in the browser. The server supports OAuth Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591), so the client registers itself automatically — no developer-portal app, client_id, or client_secret to create.
Apollo MCP OAuth connection For standard MCP clients, add Apollo's MCP server URL to the client; the client registers/connects and opens a browser-based OAuth flow automatically. Sign in to Apollo and approve access to your workspace. No API key is required. Apollo notes that partners building an integration may need to register an OAuth app before connecting, but the normal path is self-onboarding from the MCP client.
Apollo CLI OAuth login
Install the CLI, then run apollo auth login. Your browser opens for Apollo OAuth sign-in and the CLI stores credentials in ~/.config/apollo/credentials; verify with apollo auth whoami. The token refreshes automatically and no API key is needed.

Docs →Apollo API key In Apollo, go to Settings > Integrations > API Keys or open the Apollo developer dashboard. Click API Keys > Create new key, choose the endpoint permissions for the key (or enable Set as master key for full access), then copy the key and store it securely. Access depends on your Apollo plan.
